Rotor Q-rings – worth a punt?

Rotor Q-rings – worth a punt?

Feb 29, 2012

Ok  i am trying rotor Q-rings out. For a start they look ultra cool on my colnago team bike (reason enough to try them right?), but not only that, they claim to give you more power and you get less tired – great!

I dutifully picked up my set from James (got Pete to install them J) and then went back for some spin scan testing. This is the clever bit: The ovalised chainring is meant to smooth out your pedal stroke right? But how do you know? Well if you have a computraininer you can set it on spinscan and compare normal rings with rotor rings. James reckons you have to have a trial period for a while  – thats what i am doing at the moment (i have done the baseline “normal” chainring spinscan)…..So i am back on the computrainer in a couple of weeks.

At the moment they feel great, although that could also be the fact that i love the new team bike….anyway i will post back when i get the repeat spinscan test….

If anyone is considering these i would recommend getting them sorted by Paul at RIDE Plymouth, he has the technology to work out the settings that are best for you and show you how your pedals stroke is affected….
